"Sexy and eclectic, this is world music for the cool kids" LA Times
LA psychedelia meets Cambodian pop to create the potent sound of Dengue Fever. Formed in 2001 by Ethan Holtzman and his brother Zac after a trip to Cambodia, they soon recruited fantastic Cambodian singer Chhom Nimol, bassist Senon Williams, drummer Paul Smith and saxophonist David Ralicke and set about bridging East to West and back again. Initially a covers band, they have evolved their tropical genre-meshing music, with the brothers writing English lyrics which are then translated for Nimol to sing in her native Khmer tongue. Make sure you reach the ICA to catch an intoxicating dose of Dengue Fever... no vaccinations required!
