"A film is so flat. The screen is so flat. I want people to be able to step into it, go behind the screen. I want people to be able to walk around within the film, to be able to touch it. A film is so limited in time. It starts a certain hour and stops at a set time. I want it to last longer, or shorter. I want people to decide for themselves. I want people to be able to step into it for a minute and then leave or stay for hours." Lukas Moodysson
Poetic, fantastically experimental and formally radical, Container is the latest film from Lukas Moodysson, the acclaimed director of Together, Lilya-4-Ever, Show Me Love and A Hole in my Heart. Stylistically reminiscent of the US underground avant-garde cinema of the late 60s/early 70s, with definite nods to the works of Andy Warhol and Jack Smith, Container takes an innovative and intriguing look at issues of gender identity, celebrity and consumer culture.
To complement the release of Container, the ICA is hosting an exclusive Lukas Moodysson installation, Inside the Head of Lukas Moodysson: The Container Crypt. The Container Crypt functions as an interactive and experiential 'museum' displaying cherished artefacts from Lukas' films and his life. After watching the film on the big screen, the installation provides viewers with the opportunity to immerse themselves deeper into the world of Container and gain a unique insight into Lukas' inspiration and way of working.
Entry free with Admission Ticket.
