Jay Rayner: London in 13 Restaurants

Observer food critic Rayner's idiosyncratic gastronomical tour of London.

22 September 2005

From Week 6: 'The George and Dragon Public House'

Food critic and writer for the Observer, Jay Rayner takes us on an idiosyncratic gastronomical tour of London beginning with the now-departed 'Mad Hatter' of his youth in Harrow. With rest stops in a most unlikely range of establishments from 'Wok around the World' at the Ramada on the A40 through to Marco Pierre White at the Hyde Park Hotel, this entertaining anecdotal history of London's culinary heights and trenches reflects on everything from London's diversity and the power of the critic to the rise and wane of style over substance. Jay Rayner is an award-winning journalist, writer and broadcaster.
