As a child, Kelley Polar was schooled in piano, violin and viola, with a heavy extra-curricular helping of disco. He went to study classical music in New York and plunged into the club scene there, then headed back home to New Hampshire to play chamber music and get more sleep and fresh air. Now he¹s found a happy middle place, making neatly crafted, warm-hearted, slightly creepy dance records something like perfect sci-fi pop, brilliantly aware of the past and swinging wildly into the future and playing viola for the Apple Hill Chamber Players and their Playing for Peace programme. New LP I Need You to Hold On While the Sky is Falling will get an airing tonight, along with some of his dance gems from the past few years.
