A gentle coming-of-age tale set in rural India, inspired by the early years of UK-based director and actress Meneka Das. Das plays Asha, a high-school girl who lives a simple existence with her grandparents, thinking little of the world beyond her village. Things change when she meets Seth, the son of an Indian commissioner whose home she cleans. Rich, white, well-travelled and highly educated, Seth shares Asha's love of literature and both inspires her and sparks a potentially dangerous sense of dissatisfaction.
