Morris vs Rave

Two very different dance traditions celebrate an anniversary: Freeshit-Saltgrit investigates.

Morris

On Saturday 30 May the Thaxted Morris men (founded in 1911) hosted the Morris Ring 75th anniversary meeting. 32 sides and over 400 Morris men from across the land converged on Thaxted town centre, each representing their subtle variations within the dance that has been passed down from generation to generation.

Rave

On Saturday 30 May Raindance, entering its historic twentieth year, hosted a party at the Coronet in London. Ravers from across the land descended on Elephant and Castle to chart the evolution of a multicultural revolution. Doing so until the sun comes up. A playground for adults, the rave is a place to go to express individuality.
